My name is João Abreu, born in Penalva do Castelo, Beira Alta, Portugal, in April 1979. I am a professional photographer based in North West London, working across Greater London, the UK and Portugal.
My passion for photography began in childhood. I have always been inspired by the idea of capturing what I see preserving moments that would otherwise pass in an instant. What motivates me most is knowing that certain moments are unique and unrepeatable, and having the privilege to document them with authenticity and purpose.
I hold a Professional Diploma in Photography from the British Academy of Photography (BAP), which has strengthened both my technical expertise and creative vision.
As Destin Sparks once said, “Photography is the story I fail to put into words.” That belief continues to guide my work.
I specialise in event photography, covering weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, cultural gatherings, community events and special occasions. My goal is to capture the atmosphere, the emotion and the details that define each event, creating images that truly reflect the experience.
During events, I work with discretion and professionalism, blending naturally into the environment while remaining attentive to key moments. When required, I confidently organise and guide individuals or groups to ensure smooth and well-composed images, always maintaining a relaxed and natural approach.
